Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was born on 8 January 1957 to Jagdamba Sharan Singh and Pyari Devi Singh. He completed B.A and LL.B from Saket Mahavidyalay, Avadh University, Uttar Pradesh. Brij Bhushan was first elected to the 10th Lok Sabha under the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1991 from the Gonda constituency. After this, he won the 13th, 14th, 15th, and 17th Lok Sabha elections. Now he is the President of the Wrestling Federation of India.
In 2008, he left BJP and joined Samajwadi Party on 20 July 2008. In 2014, he again joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Controversy
Woman wrestler Vinesh Phogat has claimed that coaches se*ually harass girls and women coaches. These are the people who are close to the Federation. She told that WFI’s President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has se*ually exploited many girls.
For this Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, and others were protesting at Jantar Mantar against WFI. They said that the whole federation should be removed and a new federation should be brought in. There is dirt in this federation at every level. They further said that it is necessary to do this to save the future of new wrestlers.
